One of the very first artists to sign on with us at Minnesota Makers was Colette Tupy of Serenade Natural Products. She continues to be one of our best sellers with products amazing scented candles, lip balms, natural soaps, essential oil roll-ons, and more.
Colette is a city girl turned a little bit country. She grew up in St Paul now lives in a small town south of Burnsville with her husband of 18 years, 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 20 chickens, 3 ducks, AND bee hives! They have a community garden in their neighborhood, and one of their own, where they grow tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, corn, zucchini, beets, carrots and more. They can and preserve fresh veggies, soups, salsa, pickles, and jelly. They also collect fresh eggs almost daily and teach their kids the value of eating real, whole foods.
Colette started making handmade soap over 5 years ago when she realized that many of the bath & beauty products available on the market were made with harsh chemicals and preservatives. Not only is her handmade soap free of chemical preservatives, it has skin loving natural oils and butters. She quickly found that she loved the soap and so did her skin. Colette started sharing it with family and friends. With much encouragement and support, she began Serenade Natural Products in 2011. It has been her passion,obsession, and creative outlet ever since. She also started making other products including roll on essential oils, soy candles, and lip balms. Her soy candles are made with GMO free soy wax, lead free wicks, and phthalate free fragrances. They are clean burning, long lasting and very fragrant. Although they are not 100% natural, they are a cleaner burning alternative to the traditional paraffin wax, petroleum based.
This past year Colette was excited to donate all her overstock soap to Operation Christmas Child. It is a program that fills shoe boxes with necessities & toys for children in war-torn, poverty-stricken, or disaster-ridden countries. It lets the kids know they are not forgotten and that they are loved. The Eden Prairie location filled and shipped over 1000 boxes. They included a wash cloth and a bar of soap in many of the boxes. Our waste is their treasure. It makes Colette happy to contribute in this small way.
